Spotify Sync Issues

Recently I have been having issues syncing Spotify and my Garmin 945.  I have reinstalled, restarted and hard restart my watch and Spotify multiple times but always get a Sync Failed notification.  I have spent hours waiting for it to work to only get 10 out of 80 songs synced, or 1 out of 5 podcasts synced before it fails.  Is this a known issue with the latest updates at all?

Thanks!

  • Bump. I have the same issues and tried the same solutions with no luck on 745.

  • I also have experienced the same issue and would like to see a solution. I even tried connecting to a multiple Wi-Fi networks including open ones and all results in the same error. It syncs about 5% each time before error but it does resume on each subsequent attempt. I was able to sync a playlist with about 25 attempts Disappointed

    Bump!

  • Yes.  This is a major issue with the 945 and Fenix 6.  It has something to do with Garmin's WiFi driver when working with WiFi 6 routers.  8.20 doesn't seem to fix the problem.

  • I bought a new 945 recently and it would only sync 1-4 songs at a time, which is hardly workable, and I would also lose connection with my Apple AirPods while running. Garmin couldn’t resolve over the phone and didn’t have people available to send in to test so they replaced it. New unit has much better syncing with Spotify but still fails after about 20-25 songs at a time. Connection to AirPods is improved. Maybe I had a faulty unit. But connectivity doesn’t appear to be a strong point with Garmin (this is my first Garmin device). One “work around” I found to be better is to create a wifi hotspot on my iPad (add it to the watch as a wifi network) and connect to that for Spotify syncing and it synced a whole playlist without fail. So while not ideal it appears to be much better and can help when syncing music when it may not be needed to be done that often. There may be something with the way that hotspots provide wifi that the Garmin hardware/software prefers. My wifi router at home is a wifi 6 router so that may also be an issue. Another useful trick is placing the watch right by the router when syncing; I got larger even percentages of downloads at a time this way. I did also increase my router’s CTS threshold (this is the data packet size sent before fragmenting) to 2347 and that gave some additional gains in number of songs downloaded at a time but didn’t resolve completely so may not be workable solution as it can have other impact on wifi stability, depending on your setup. Mobile hotspot remains the most consistent sync method for me. Hope that helps someone else.

  • Exactly the same issue with my 945 LTE and Fenix 6 Pro.  I've had that issue with my Asus AC network and my most recent Linksys Velop Wifi 6 Mesh.  Even when I split the SSID into two separate ones for 5GHz and 2.4GHz it failed.  I ended up having to buy a cheap 2.4 GHz wifi extender that I setup in one room in my house.  It is a pain, but it works.  I'm really disappointed in this lack of testing done by Garmin or follow-up on resolving a 2 year problem.
