Battery drain with version 7.10

Hi!

Is it only me or are you also experiencing that the battery time has worsened significantly after the last update to version 7.10?

/E

  • Have you tried turning it off an on again?

  • Hi,

no battery issues at all on version 7.10 for me - 0,1% / hour (BT: OFF, PulseOX: OFF) in watch mode, the same as on previous firmware.

  • I wouldn't say "significantly", but it does seem to drain maybe 15-20% faster for me than it did.

    • I don't use a CIQ watch face (just a stock, fairly low refresh rate one), so it's not an issue with a watchface update.
    • I cleared my activity history.
    • I turned it off (holding power until power down) and back on a couple times.
    • I haven't changed my activity levels enough that I would think it would cause this.
    • looking at the comment by , I have BT on (as it has been since I bought the watch) and PulseOX off. I also have notifications set off when out of activity (if I wanted constant wrist buzzing / interruptions I'd get an Apple Watch), so it's not the wrist buzz draining it.

I'm not sure what else to try.

  • Maybe try to try less.

I have the feeling that sometimes we do not let the watch settle after an update, we test more or look at the battery stats 20 times per hour. For sure this causes battery drain.

Please compare the software version after one or two battery charge cycles.

    Curious on the outcome.

    Cheers

  • are you also experiencing that the battery time has worsened

    No

  • Another update, another thread on the battery usage.

Press light button for 15s and be most probably done with it.

  • I have a question I get 1.05% battery drain an hour I always thought my battery was bad but I just realized I'm running 20km a day everyday so is that why my battery sucks? I didn't think to count runs. I have airplane mode on pulse OX off and don't use music feature and no apps installed.

  • For me, it went from 4 days to 1.5 days!!!! Yes, critical difference.  I'll try restarting it.

  • For me similar to previous FW.

But I see battery influence of battery aging.

1,5 hours run beg.2020 - 3% (watch in normal mode)

1,5 hours run yesterday - 14% (watch in airplane mode)

Also during night battery drop out 5x more then before.

    Time for 955:)

  • Also during night battery drop out 5x more then before.

New sleep tracking require more battery since is calculated on device and not on Garmin cloud. Same happened when new sleep tracking was added to Fenix 6 - more battery drain overnight.
