Improvements to pool swimming activity

Hi to all,

I have two specific needs, that seem to be quite obvious to me, but that are for some reason not addressed by the pool swimming activity

  1. First, I'd like some sort of auto lap feature. Say mark a lap every 40 lengths. Now, I need to set an alert, stop and restart the watch to count the lap. This is quite annoying, and I guess technically it wouldbe very easy to implement
  2. The second need just appeared a couple of days ago. I went to a 50 meters swimming pool that had been dividied into a 37.5 and a 12.5 meters. This is when I noticed that the custom pool lenght only takes integers. I had to set it to 38 meters and then correct manually once downloaded the activity

Anybody else has these needs? Is there a chance that these changes will be implemented?

  • 1. Set up a workout that represents 40 lengths.

Contact Garmin Support and find out or do a Google Search to find where to submit a feature request.

  • I didnt swim with my watch since 14 months now, im not sure if I ever used the new auto rest feature etc. But for 1, build a workout (training) and send it to the watch.

For two: how did they separate? the usual rope with balls? If you aren't allowed to swim over/under the line and use the full 50m, the watch will not count laps properly because the push off is missing. It will sometimes recognize that you did stop and start at the rope and count that as an lap, but normally it looks for the high acceleration you get when you push off the wall. I don't believe you can get rid of the correction because you will not only have to correct the distance, but the laps also.

If you google: Submit Garmin Feature, it will Brin gyou to:

Garmin is most likely not ready a lot of this and I believe there was never a suggestion here that was implemented. But that is only my personal feeling.
