Region Versions - 010-02063-00 vs 010-02063-01

Hello,

I´m living in Portugal ( Europe ) and í´m interested in acquiring a Garmin 945 ( 010-02063-00 North America) that i found in a website with a huge discount.

However, i´m concerned about the region version. In Portugal i should acquire the 010-02063-01 version but the price is a totally different one... it´s so more expansive.

Being that said, would i be able to count my kilometers while running if i bought the non European version ? Should i fear any type of concerns ? Which kind of disadvantages should i experienced if i buy a non European version ?

The European version is 560 Euros and the other one is just 370 euros with a limited time discount . So , should i take the risk ?

Any suggestions would be appriciated !

you can load european maps on it. Yes you have to buy them or find some for free on internet

GPS shouldn't be affected by the fact you have or don't have any maps installed.

I'm using the free maps based on the OSM project that can be found here:

The only advantage of having maps on a watch is for on-watch navigation, that's all. Not having them won't affect run tracking or performance matrics. The GPS track is recorded regardless of if you have…

The GPS still woks without the pre installed maps or am I obligated to install them in order to use the smartwatch to track my running performance?

Have you been using your garmin to monitorize your distance runs without any issues? Still accurate and precise ?

There are no inconveniences about firmware ou software updates ?

Are you Portuguese by the way ?

So can i assume that´s totally safe buying the cheaper version that i mentioned ? The smartwatch will be totally functional ?

Yes it should be. The distance units can be switched between Kms and miles on any Garmin watch, and you can load your own maps onto the watch, even free ones downloaded from openmaps
