ANT+ connection Garmin 945 & Tacx Neo Bike isn't stable. I can't control the Neo Bike with the watch.

Does your ANT* connection between 945 and a Tacx bike trainer work?

Hello Tom, do you use any other sensors with your Forerunner 945? Do they seem to be dropping their connection with the watch?

No, I don't use any other sensors. I have only those integrated in the Tacx Neo Bike Smart Trainer.

I even tried to disable the ANT+ connection in the Tacx Utility App in order to disable the ANT+ private protocol. In this case the watch is connecting via the ANT+ FE-C protocol with the trainer. But the problem of the blinking ANT+ remain the same and I am still no able to control my trainer with my watch.

I have a similar issue, but with my old Tacx Bushido.

The connection with the trainer drops a lot.
I use Garmin HRM TRI and a power meter, and the connections seem stable.

This is a long-term issue for me, and I never used my forerunner 945 to set the trainer resistance because of it.

I try after each software update, but it never worked.

That's what I read a lot when investigating that issue. It seems that almost nobody is able to set the trainer resistance of his (smart) trainer using a Garmin watch.

I also tested a Fenix 6X pro. It didn't work stable either.

One of the reasons I bought the 945 has been the "daily workout suggestions" that I wanted to follow on my smart trainer, because I am not an athlete and don't have any competition goals; I just want to stay healthy and fit. But it doesn't work stable :(

Sometimes it works for several minutes, but never during a whole workout.

I did many things in order to make it work:

- switching off the 2.4 GHz Wifi (using only 5 GHz)

- placing the Garmin watch at different places on the bike

- as mentioned-above disabling ANT+ speed/cadence sensor in the Tacx Utility App Device settings

- switching off and on the trainer

- restarting the watch

- etc. 

But I never get a stable ANT+ connection. It starts always blinking after some seconds or some minutes.

I change gears.
In some specific workouts, it may lack resistance.
But it is possible to put over 500W with the big ring/small cog, which is enough for me.

I have a Neo 2T, I tried 0.0.20 and 0.0.37 and 0.0.38 firmware with my 945, also tried to turn my Wifi off, but I am unable to have a stable ANT+ or BT connection betweem the two devices.

I don't have any issues with my Favero Asioma (duo) pedals and the 945 (of course I tried without them also, no problem with my Asftershokz Aeropex and also never got any issue betweem the 945 and an Elite Nero roller.

Garmin support isn't aware of any issue betweem a watch and the Neo 2T (but I guess it's the same for the Neo even if I can't be sure) and they have exchanged my unit which hasn't solved my problem.

I have to send the unit back for them to fix this issue, I just want to test with the 9.00 firmware of the watch (I have still 8.20) if that change anything before sending it back again which is quiete a lot of waste of time (but maybe I'll get lucky).

To be clear : Garmin don't read there forums, and as they told me before I complained they weren't aware of any problem betweem the 945 and there trainer, so it could be good to write to them instead of here (even if this forum has quiete a lots of similar problem) (when I sent the URL of there own forums they replied that those cases weren't verified). 

Today I got the 9.00 945's firmware and the ANT/BT update also and I did a small 38' tests which unfortunately had quiete a lots of connection loss but at least the asked power was always right.
