0 hours recovery but no suggest workout?

945 says 0 hours recovery but also suggests 30 minutes at a very easy pace? I thought 0 hours meant you were ready for a workout. I always just do a workout whenever it says 0 hours or under 8. If I did the 30 mins easy will it give eke workout next day or does it know I need to recover even though it says 0 hours.

  • I use the daily workout and today i had a hard workout ! after several easy runs (daily sug. workouts) of 30mins.

Indead in the past i did my own workouts when recovered or rest recover of 8 - 10 hours.

For the last weeks i will try the daily workout advice for cycling of running. no matter what you do i choose them depending of the whether

  • 30 m easy workout is a workout.  I wouldn't skip these as zone 2 runs have benefit if you read about them.

My watch has been on zero hours and no suggested workouts. I cant figure it out so I just signed up for a 10k training plan with garmin coach.

  •  True bit I mean a hard workout. I do 30 mins double everyday for recovery so I still do them. I did only 30 mins today and 6 hours recovery after yesterday's 5x1K hard so that's crazy but see if it gives me another workout tomorrow I'm doing a long run 16 miles with my friend

How long was yours on 0 hours? When I followed the watch 30 mins 2 days in a row third day same 30 mins slow I thought no and did 1 hour 145bpm then that woke it up and it suggested a workout next day

  • 0 hours for days... i saw on some other forum a garmin tech recommend deleting files in garmin schedule folder but that didn't work either.  Today, I swear I saw a suggested workout somewhere but not in the usual place but I clicked out of it and lost it again... no matter, it was a little over 1hr base run so...off I go. I really like the suggested workouts though. They are motivating and keeps things nice and balanced.

  • I find if I follow the workouts it DOES suggest a workout. I ran today only 30 minutes it's as suggested and now for tomorrow I have a sprint workout. It's 5 x 10 seconds x 2 the first ones 1.5 months back were only 15 seconds x 3 x 2 so I love the progression suggested.

Yeah I love the suggested workouts it's why I kept the watch. Every one of them has been a perfect workout and it knows the exact pace I should run to have me a great workout. I'm a serious runner and I thought the workouts would be too soft and easy for me but they some of the best ones I've done. They seem to feel easy at first but you spend longer at an intense effort and it's harder workout by the end of it.

I'm coming back from 8 month injury and it's given me short threshold runs 3 x 5 mins then it slowly as weeks went by crept upto 15 x 2 and 25 mins then 35 mins.

Another I loved was 10 x 4 minutes tempo at 165bpm with 3 mins jog between intervals at 130bpm.

So much better than a training plan as it adapts to your recovery and training history. The training status really has reflected how I feel.

I just wish they would let us do the warmup by lap as it takes longer than 10 minutes to get to my local track.

  • The garmin coach training programs adjust to your training level just like suggested workouts. I'd rather not HAVE to pick a training program, but...

yes. I really feel the interval workouts jump starting my progress. In my particular garmin coach program (I picked a 10k training program) they describe one of the intervals as stride runs. I like these a lot.

The other thing good is that the watch will remind you to do recovery and slow base runs. Instead of going hard EVERY TIME. I recently read that hard threshold and higher runs are accompanied by a stress reaction in the body that can be detrimental to progress.

Of course what do I do on my hour run? Go too hard...

I'm about 9 months into my running after recovering from covid and deciding to try to see how far back I can go.

Im at least 10-12 years out from several marathons I ran before the kids... Never fast but considerably faster than I am now. At 50yo, though, I am happy.
