Weekly distance reset not happening on Forerunner 945 (version 6.20)

Since a while the (before version 5.50) weekly distance in no reset every week.
The bypass is to change the start day of the week and change it back but this is a trivial function for such watch and I'm tired and disappointed to see this not working.

When Garmin will take action to solve this bug?

Please include a fix in your next version and do not come back with another bypass.

There are too many people complaining about this issue and not only on the FR945.

I count on your drive to solve this issue.

  • Hello, do you have activity tracking turned on on your watch? The activity tracking function is responsible for resetting the weekly total, and if it is turned off it will not reset the weekly running total.

  • Thank you for your quick answer. No I do not have activity tracking on as I use my RF945 only for running. For activity tracking I'm using a Vivosmart 4 that is smaller and that I wear during sleeping too. I had deactivated activity tracking because when I'm not wearing the watch (then always behalf when I run) the data captured by the Vivosmart 4 is not merged and does not appear on the watch. What is the best practices when using two devices or does the Garmin ecosystem does not support multiple devices for one person?

  • It does, and I totally get that the smaller bands can be more comfortable to sleep in then the full sized watches. You would want to make sure the Vivosmart 4 is set as your preferred activity tracker. That way the data recorded by the two watches doesn't get mixed up. Setting a Garmin Device as a Preferred Activity Tracker in Garmin Connect

There is a feature called TrueUp, that is part of Garmin Connect that syncs the data up on the device. What Is the Garmin Connect TrueUp Feature and How Does It Work?

  • Great, I will setup my FR954 as preferred activity tracker and will check if the weekly distance is correctly reset. Furthermore I will check the TrueUp data merging.

  • Since I have set my FR945, the data aggregation with the Vivosmart 4 does not work anymore. I see no PulseOX  and the body battery is empty while I'm not wearing the FR945 which is most of the time (I wear the watch only when running).
The weekly distance reset works fine now, but I can't have the best of both world: body battery based on data coming from Vivosmart 4  and weekly distance rest on the FR945.

Is there nothing Garmin can do?

    Best regards,

  • Hello after my last comment I did not hear anything from Garmin side.
To summarize, to get he weekly distance reset I need to define my FR945 as preferred activity tracker. I'm wearing the FR945 only when I'm running and wear a Vivosmart 4 constantly. But when the FR945 is set as preferred activity tracker the Vivosmart 4 data are not aggregated anymore and I do not have information on PulseOX and body battery.

I cannot have both things working together. Can you confirm that Garmin is not willing to cover such situation?

  • I may help you:

You would want to make sure the Vivosmart 4 is set as your preferred activity tracker.

    And you:

Great, I will setup my FR954 as preferred activity tracker

    You misunderstood what Brooks said.

You need to have activity tracking turned on in both watches and set the Vivosmart as preferred.

  • I've been asked to set my FR945 as preferred tracker to get the weekly distance been reset and it does. If I set the Vivosmart as preferred the reset does not happen.
How can I get the best of both worlds?

  • Where you was asked to set the FR945 as preferred?

    There are two settings.

One: Enable activity tracking. (For Vivo and FR945)

Second: Preferred activity tracker. ( For VivoSmart only).

If it’s not what you should do, so I can’t help you.

  • But the issue is when I set the VivoSmart as preferred activity tracker, the weekly reset is not functioning on the FR945.
To be sure I will setup what you mention above and wait Monday to check if the distance is reset to 0 on the FR945 and will update you. Thank you
