Garmin 945 taking very long time to sync to GPS

I can see from going through the forums here this is a recurring issue, most of these articles are over a year old, is this issue still going on? I have a ForeRunner 235 and a ForeRunner 935, my 235 syncs to GPS in seconds whereas the 945 over triple the price is taking minutes to find GPS on average, I am on latest software. Please let me know what I can do about this. Thanks.

Mine has been doing this but not consistently. Sometimes it will take a relatively long time (>60 seconds) but other times it locks pretty quick.

Does this all seem up to date for system setting?

GPS: 4.80

Some Garmin fitness devices will list a section under the About screen labeled either EPO or CPE along with a status of either Current or Expired. To explain, there are files used by the watch to predict where the GPS satellites are located in the sky at any given moment. Current EPO or CPE files will allow the device to acquire a signal faster when you are going to record an outdoor activity such as a run or ride. Expired files will result in a much slower time frame before the device determines its current location.

Thank you seilogramp, my 945 uses (assuming all [945s] will) CPE, and actually when I first bought the watch it was in expired state, I followed steps to make it current. I check this periodically to assure it stays current but so far no issue there.

My GPS locks quickly though.

But my usual routes are really out of whack for some portion.

There is no new building on my usual routes. All these are happening this year.

I would do what Garmin-Brooks recommends even if it looks current. There have been reports of this improving satellite acquisition speed as well as route accuracy, such as what DPSK is experiencing.
