Navigation - Course not showing on map

Hi guys,

I usually create courses for trail running in either the Connect webapp or the android mobile version of it, send it to my 945 and then use map navigation for knowing where to go.

For some srtrange reason (and maybe It started with the latest firmware update) the last course I created and send to my watch is not working correctly on my 945.

When I click on Do Course and I'm standing on the starting point of the course I cant see it on the map, and if I choose View Map (to see the course map on my watch) I get a blue screen, when I zoom out I realize it shows some part of the ocean somewhere else.

I sent the course to a friend using a solar instinct and it worked correctly on his device.

Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it?

Thanks!

Matias

  • Have you tried removing the course and then upload it again? (maybe also do a reboot or, even better, a soft reset/hard restart in between). Also, if that didn't work, try do delete the route on GC and recreate it from scratch.,

Btw, are all the proper maps installed and you are able to see your own position on the map?

  • This happens sometimes for me as well. The map for the course is often at coordinate 0,0. The course is corrupt in some way. It can't be deleted or used. If I restart the watch that course is usually not there any more so I need to transfer it again. You can't just send it again. A restart is a must.

What I do to make sure that doesn't happen is that I always look at the map for the course after I've transfered a new course.

I don't think it has occured after the last update. It was pretty often before. My theory is that it occurs when I'm in a hurry and just pushes the course to the watch and don't have time to wait and see that it goes through.

  • I tried removing and re-uploading the course from the Connect app but it never worked, tried even rebooting the watch and re-uploading the course, but still no luck.

Maps are working perfectly and I can see my position in the maps!

  • I guess this is the same issue I faced with this course, it was corrupt in some strange way. The weird thing is that the same course worked perfetly in a Garmin Solar Instinct.

This is the first time for me, what fixed the error was to edit the couse in the web app (just renaming it) and then send itr again to the watch, after that it ended up working.

The suggestion of always checking the map of the course after uploading it is a must! Will do that from now on.

  • Hi Matosimone,

Thanks for the tips, it works for me !
