Daily suggested workout is missing from calendar after 6.20 update

Am I the only one who lost the Daily suggested workout entry from the calendar of the watch?

Prior 6.20 update I had 5.50. I could see the Daily suggested workout in my calendar for the current day.

I still can check the suggestion if I start a run and navigate to workouts but is is not there in the calendar.

  • It seems that if you add even a single training to your calendar, the daily suggested training is not shown in the calendar anymore and it is also gone when starting a run. I added a training to my calendar for yesterday (and completed it). For today I don't get a suggested training when starting a run activity. And I don't see it in the calendar. After deleting the training from the calendar and resynching, the daily suggested workout is there again (calendar and run activity).
Strange behaviour. Garmin seems to think that you either follow yout own training plan or you want to use their suggested workouts but never both at the same time.

  • I am now seeing the daily suggested workout in my calendar.  I'm thinking the reason it wasn't showing yesterday was that I had already done my own workout that day, not the case today.

  • From https://discover.garmin.com/en-US/performance-data/running/#daily-suggested-workouts

"If you are following a dedicated training plan with scheduled workouts aimed at a specific event, one downloaded from Garmin Connect (either a Garmin plan or one you have created), or one downloaded from a third party, these training plan workouts will take priority over the Daily Suggested Workouts. You will still be able to locate the suggested workout in the workouts menu, but your training plan workouts will take priority in the prompts given on your watch."

So to be fair, they do mention that your own planned workouts takes precedence. And for me it sounds reasonable. I mean, if I plan a workout then that's what I intend to do so why get alerts about something else?

  • I had just one training for one single day and didn't get a suggested training for the next day. But I see that it's diffucult to decide if a user is following a training plan or wants to get suggested workouts. Maybe they should show the suggested workouts on days without a planned training. I usually don't use planned trainings, only for some track sessions and I like  to see the suggested training - although I don't stick to it.

  • Well, then I misunderstood. I don't follow a training plan either, so for me usually the DSW prompt appears when I start the activity. However, on those days when I intend to do an interval-session etc. and I have added that to the Garmin calendar, the prompt to start that workout appears instead. But other days without planned workouts I will get the prompt about a suggested session, unless the suggestion is Rest.

  • No, i am having similar problems. Going to the run activity, training, WOD still shows it. i turned notifications on and of there, then it was back in the calendar. a day later or so it was not shown again. there seems to be some kind of bug in the update.

  • This still doesn't seem to work as intended.  I added a scheduled workout last week (12/16), performed the workout, and haven't had WOD since.  The 12/16 workout still shows in my Run>Training>TrainingCalendar and there is no way to delete it (it's not showing in my Training Calendar on Mobile app or on garmin-connect-web).  Odd behavior.  I don't particularly care about the Daily Suggested as I almost never do them, but it is a curiosity to see what "garmin" thinks I should do this day - plus, it's annoying my watch is not working as it should.

I am thinking in my case it has something to do with scheduled-workouts coming from an external source (in my case Sporttracks and/or Training Peaks).  But these is supposed to be acceptable methods for bringing workouts in.

  • This worked for me! Thanks! (Fenix 6S Pro running 21.00)

  • I added a workout to the agenda, on the mobile app,

And then removed the workout in the agenda on the mobile connect app.

Now the suggested workout is back
