Sorry but what's the point in that decision Garmin made? If I turn off all backlight options in the menu, I certainly DON'T want the backlight to be turned on while accessing the radial menu with LONG…
I don't like this new behavior too. The long press of light button to call the radial menu definitely should not turn the backlight on, given that all corresponding backlight options are off.

At this time, that is how the backlight reacts to accessing the Control Menu; an experience inquiry has been created to track customer interest in a change being made.

If I'm in a dark environment at daytime, I would rather press light button shortly first and then hold it to access menu. It should be exclusively my decision, if I need some backlight to see the icons or not.
This behavior has impact on battery life. Backlight stays on while you browse menus. And turning backlight off manually is not an option at all, because it is more natural to NOT use the backlight at daytime than use it. So, an explicit action should be taken by user to turn the backlight ON when needed in rare cases rather then turn it manually off most of the time.
Garmin should really consider reverting this "feature" to previous normal behavior.
For all who also doesn't like new behavior: I've filled in the Feedback Reporting Form and have sent it to [email protected],

Feel free to download and send as well, though I don't know if it will make any effect, but I gave it a try.
