Long press light bug in 6.20 (same as Fenix 6 with 12.20)

Hi,

Garmin would not be Garmin if they had a decent software developing process, so of course with every new firmware, including the new V6.20 they introduce new annoying bugs.

If pressing long the light button for reaching the radial menu, the light is activated also. Normally it should be entered without activating the light, which is done by SHORT pressing the light button.

The behaviour you describe happens for me in 5.50 too, so not new

When you access all the menus the light turns on, I don't understand what you are reporting

Exactly. Every button click will turn on the backlight. It isn't just the light button. The light button is the only button that will turn off the backlight.

I don't consider this to be a bug. It is a feature. When you click a button the backlight is supposed to be turned on.

If you set the backlight for buttons and alerts to off in settings then it shouldn't light up. I still have 5.50, it stays dark with setting off.

Aha. That works in 6.20 as well. The only button that will turn on the backlight is the light button. Short and long clicks.

Yes, but as described the light shouldn't turn on with long press. It never did and it is not sensible, because long press should give access to the radial menu only. Either any button press activates light if turned on in the options, or no button but the light button.

Any other behaviour just shortens battery life.

Sounds like its a feature to be honest, press button light comes on. As others have said its not new.

As others said, mine just follows the setting I've made under "Backlight."

If I have "Keys and Alerts" set to "on" then any button press brings the backlight. If that setting is "off" then long-press on the top left button does NOT bring the backlight. Seems sensible to me, no bug.
