How to disable altimeter on 945 -- it's recording bad values

Is it possible to disable the altimeter on the 945, and rely on GPS data to record elevation changes in Garmin Connect?  My 945 started recording bad elevation data last week.  I've done online chat with Garmin Support 2x and have been told there is a software fix coming at end of February that will resolve it (but said fix is not in the 6.04 beta).

I'm a little skeptical that it is a software problem and not a problem with the watch, given other forum posts I've seen here.  But I'm willing to try a software fix.

But in the meantime I need to stop having the watch report bad data.  I'd much rather see in Garmin Connect GPS-applied elevation data for my runs/rides than the bogus data from the watch.

Any ideas?

  • See where?

After? Go to GCW and enable elevation corrections, then it will use their DEM-data to fix it. And the quality of the corrections is YMMV because of Garmin's data.

    During? Add GPS elevation field.

  • A mi la altura me la cambia constantemente. Vivo a 48m sobre el nivel del mar y la sube a 160m casi cada día

  • Ah, thank you.   I generally only use Garmin Connect on my iPhone and very rarely use my computer.  I didnt see any Elevation Correction option in the iOS App when I had looked.   I found it now on the computer and enabled corrections.  Thanks!
