Master reset with format watch storage

Hello,

To do a full master reset, can I remove all file in storage of my watch and proceed a master reset of my watch ?

If yes, can you explain the steps to do this ?

Thanks

  • First of all. Why would you do this ? anyway.

What are your problems to do so ?

  • Battery drain and altimeter / barometer problems

  • No need to complete remove all. Do a hard reset thats all.

  • I did a system restore after running into battery drain problems with a beta.

I took the view that if something was corrupted that was causing this, I didn't want to re-introduce the problem by copying the old files back over.

However there are a few things you can do to make the process of restoring a bit easier.

    1. Turn on Physio True Up in the phone app, and sync - before resetting. This will automatically re-import your training metrics (eg. VO2Max) afterwards.

    2. Plug the watch into a computer, and use File Explorer to copy the Activities subfolder. Not really necessary, but useful if you do things like "Race a Previous Activity". Then once you have performed the master reset, copy the contents of the subfolder back onto the watch.

    3. You could do the same with the "Courses" subfolder, although it is pretty easy to send the courses from the phone app again.

    4. Copying the "Settings" subfolder. I think this should avoid most of the reconfiguration. However, this is something I didn't do, as I felt the risk of reintroducing an incorrect setting was too high. Note that having to set up activity datafields etc. can be a slow and tedious process.

    5. "Records" is another subfolder you could consider copying.

  • Thanks for the procedure. I just backup & restore Physio True Up. It's working perfectly without problem.
