Hello Garmin-Brooks
unfortunately whenever I go backcountry skiing / ski mountaineering and choose that activity on my Forerunner945 it will afterwards be synced as Alpin Ski to Strava.
I got in touch with Strava on this issue, and this is the answer I received:
"Thank you for following up with the requested information. After taking a look at the original activity files for these activities uploaded from Garmin, it appears that Garmin might be misclassifying these activities. Specifically, looking at the activity file reveals the following information:
It looks like Strava is using the 'sport' field to identify the activity type when these activities are synced over to Strava. While I will mention this situation to our engineering team to see if there's anything we can do to fix the issue, I also recommend reporting this issue to Garmin so that their team is aware of the sport type issue with their backcountry ski activities.
Until this issue is resolved, you will need to continue manually adjusting the activity type on these activities uploaded to your Strava account. I apologize for the inconvenience!

Could your team look into this? Would be great if this could be fixed on the Garmin side.
