How to find exact recorded running distance

Hi there,

how to find exact recorded running distance?

Garmin displays running distance in kilometres with two decimal points. Basically , Garmin rounds distance to ten meters.

is there any way to find recorded distance without rounding. Actually, I am looking for distance to nearest meter.

  • Sure is but OP has said

so I could see distance run to nearest meter.

Yes I am being pedantic because there is an expectation amongst some (and confusion) that a wrist worn GPS will produce exact distance run even without any fancy algorithms designed to smooth pace or distance. And that this distance is somehow buried in the raw recorded data on the watch, which it is not. The raw distance might well be the recorded distance prior to being adjusted by whatever algorithm is used to produce a recorded distance closer to the actual travelled distance but it still will likely differ.

Any wrist worn GPS will produce a recorded distance that will differ from the actual travelled distance depending on a great many factors as most of us understand and accept.

As we now know, even Suunto can’t produce accurate data although some would argue that lesser degrees of accuracy are better. I would contend that inaccurate data is inaccurate data; degrees of inaccuracy are irrelevant. Period. Expecting pinpoint accuracy from any wrist worn GPS puts anyone on a hiding to nothing.
