Yes. A lot of differences between Fenix 13.10 and FR 5.50.
Still no Sleep widget (7 July on Fenix), Surf activity, power zones for XC Ski, Altitude Acclimation widget, and some others like support for displaying…
I also agree that the watches must have the functions for which they are sold, then if Garmin gives us something more I'm happy about it but it's just a pleasant surprise. What I don't tolerate is that…
The Fenix 6 is the top end outdoor watch, while the FR945 is the top end sports watch. So it is necessary to implement these functions to the 945. Cause, it’s the top end in his sector.
I also agree that the watches must have the functions for which they are sold, then if Garmin gives us something more I'm happy about it but it's just a pleasant surprise. What I don't tolerate is that devices are sold that have bugs for at least a year. I have been the owner of edge 130 for 1.5 years and it's ok except the altimeter to be calibrated every output, FR645M for 2 years and it never worked well, the first one was constantly stuck and then the case broke, me they changed it and the second one better than the first but the case is still broken and the fitness algorithms are not accurate, now I have FR945 for almost 2 weeks and I am delighted with it. My only thought that Garmin products must be bought at least one year after launch to have a stable SW and pay a more reasonable cost (FR945 discounted by 100 euros).
For example, the features andrzejpajek mentioned were never promised on our 945's when we purchased them. If they come that's great, but we're not entitled to them.
Thats only the half of the truth: He mentioned sleep widget. Garmin community managers stated here that it will come. If you bought the FR945 at day one, your position is true. But Garmin promised (Fenix 6 launch) features on several occasions and it took them up to almost a year to fulfill that promise. If you decided to buy a FR945 instead of a F6 because you read that several things will come, you were entitled. This were things like the Widget glance and some other things like pacepro wich are now in the software.
If the new sleep score and sleep insights (including the new sleep widget) is not coming then why advertise it on the forerunner 945 product page on their website? I don't understand how selling a watch with missing features..
If the new sleep score and sleep insights (including the new sleep widget) is not coming
I never said they weren't coming.
why advertise it on the forerunner 945 product page on their website?
I don't work for Garmin or have anything to do with their advertising. I don't see it advertised on the US website. You'll have to ask them.
Unfortunately Garmin do suggest sleep is there:
"After each workout, the built-in recovery time advisor lets you know how long to rest before another big effort. It even accounts for all-day stress, sleep and daily activity outside of workouts."
And in the Specs
Unfortunately Garmin do suggest sleep is there
They also say that the watch doesn't have Sight n' Go or Tides (those with the North American maps have Tides), but this is not the case either. Garmin | Compare
It's been weeks, but the last thing Garmin has said about the sleep widget was it had been placed on hold because of negative feedback they had during testing. It may never come to the 945.
I posted this in the 3.10 thread, I'm going to post it in here too, just to maximize eyes on it because we do want this to be as clear as possible on it. All frustration is completely understandable, and we are working as quickly as we can to rectify the issue.
While preparing to release our new on-device sleep algorithm on Forerunner devices we found that some beta testers had more accurate results on the previous versions. As a result, we have removed the feature to further review results so our customers can ultimately have the best sleep algorithm experience. We are actively testing and verifying the algorithm on a wider audience and hope to release a public beta in the coming months. Thank you all for your patience as we continue to make improvements and listen to your feedback.
I suspect whomever is in charge of updating their website has been slacking. Anyway, as I said earlier:
I don't work for Garmin or have anything to do with their advertising
You'll have to ask them.
I do need to apologize because I've missed what is being discussed here, namely sleep being recorded on the watch then synced to Garmin Connect, which is of course the opposite to now. Currently sleep is estimated on the phone I'm guessing from recorded heart rate uploaded following a night's sleep.
So in that respect the 945 does have the ability to estimate sleep which is what was/is available to all who have or will purchase a 945. As you rightly state the addition of that widget is extra functionality not available at time of purchase, and that I am sure most people would rather work properly than not. Although the serial whingers in the forums would probably disagree as they'd have one thing less to whinge about.
The addition of a sleep widget, and the recording of sleep directly from the watch then saving to GCM is of course different. There are always complaints in the Garmin forums but my experience of the sleep widget on my F6 is overwhelmingly positive.
but the last thing Garmin has said about the sleep widget was it had been placed on hold because of negative feedback they had on the F6
I'm not sure this is absolutely true as it is not something that I believe Garmin would tend to announce in a public forum; of course I might be wrong. I suspect the truth lies somewhere in between and Garmin were unhappy with the performance of the sleep widget so elected to leave it out for now..
They screw the battery, first time it happen to me though but it's annoying, running 1% hour when before 0.2 despite many restarts
