How do I turn off "Recovery Time Delayed" alert?

Once or twice a day, I get a "Recovery Time Delayed" notification. The alert claims I didn't sleep well or had a "high level of activity" so should take extra time to recover. I've been through the manual, these forums, and Reddit and can't figure how to turn this off.

Note: this is not during or just after an activity...it's randomly throughout the day... minding my own business. One of the statements is: "Recovery Time Delayed. A high level of activity slowed your recovery. You may want to take it easy until you're fully recharged."

[edit] Note: The notification I wish to disable is coming through on the watch not the phone.

Thanks,

  • I had the same problem and I solved it as follows: when the 945 has to give an alert on recovery, it disables the do not disturb, but only the daytime one. I set my sleep period via Garmin Connect, setting it from 2pm to 12.30pm of the next day. In this way, if the 945 has to send an alert, it only sends it between 12.30 and 14.00, while I'm on a work break.

  • Have a look in GCM device settings, Sounds and Alerts, Smart Notifications . In there you can choose which Smart Notifications you want and when.,

  • Note: the notification I wish to disable comes through on the watch... not on the phone. I rarely have my phone connected to the watch.

Thanks. But my GCM (Samsung S10) doesn't have "Smart Notifications" listed under Sounds & Alerts. The 945 watch has Settings, Phone, Smart Notifications but mine is set to off.

  • I'm jealous! Mine usually says "Recovery Time Delayed." Occasionally improved but only because I was at a desk all day.

  • I have training status paused, and I still got this alert.

  • I do not think this feature can be disabled. Garmin has recovery updates appear after you save the activity, but as of Software Version 5.2 Garmin "Added support for Improved Recovery Time, which takes your stress, sleep, relaxation, and physical activity into consideration."

They also say in the 945 manual," NOTE: The recovery time recommendation uses your VO2 max. estimate and may seem inaccurate at first. The device requires you to complete a few activities to learn about your performance. The recovery time appears immediately following an activity. The time counts down until it is optimal for you to attempt another hard workout. The device updates your recovery time throughout the day based on changes in sleep, stress, relaxation, and physical activity." So as factors that effect your recovery time appear throughout the day, it will update and let you know accordingly.

The updated recovery makes since because poor sleep and those other factors can effect performance. As some of the other suggestions say there may be a way to make the notification come across silently, but this looks like Garmin has built this in. So you could try making sure your bed time is accurate in the GC as well as making sure the recorded sleep accurately reflects the time slept.

Someone else may know a way to disable the updated recovery notification, but I do not know how.

  • I'm actualy not having this alert either, but apparently I'm not the only one. I would like to know where one can toggle this too, but so far have not found anything. Though in my case I'd like to enable it.
