Cannot add Spotify or figure out the required update on Garmin Express

Trying to set up my new 945 and install Spotify.  However when trying to download via the Connect store I am being told to get the latest version of this app I must update the watch in Garmin Express.  I have added Garmin Express to my Mac and connected thew phone...made an update for maps (the only visible I can see) but can't find anywhere to make the necessary update.  Can anyone help ?  Many thanks

  • I would do it all through your PC.

    Downloading Connect IQ Features Using Your Computer

    1. Connect the device to your computer using a USB cable.
    2. Go to apps.garmin.com, and sign in.
    3. Select a Connect IQTm feature, and download it.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

    I just recently added ErgIq and when I clicked download from the store on my laptop it told me to open Garmin express with the watch plugged in, and when it synced it was on my watch after I unplugged it.

    You may also need to select Spotify as your music provider once it's installed by going to Menu > Music > Music Providers, and selecting Spotify. From there it will guide you on how to login in through Garmin Connect. You also need Spotify Premium to use the Spotify app as well.

    Once you plug your watch into Garmin express it should tell you about any updates available. If there is any once you add them to your watch after you unplug it, it should give you the option to install now or later. The most recent software version is 5.50, and you can verify your current version by going to Menu > System > About

  • I just purchased a Fenix 5x Plus and I am having the same exact issue. I need to download an update from Garmin Express, but the only update available when connected to Garmin Express (via USB) is a maps update. 

  • Any updated on this? Im just trying to download spotify on my Fenix 7s and it says the same, although in Express it's up to date - help needed

  • Hi, I updated my watch using the settings on the actual watch and it worked, maybe give that a try Blush

  • With me it worked to unplug the device from USB and then it showed on the phone there was an update available. Install the update from phone, then Spotify and it should work.

  • Ok.. after 2 hours of trying to figure this out. I finally got it to work. How I understand it now...

    1. You need to login to Garmin Express (web) and connect your watch via USB to your PC

    2. When you are "updating" your watch on Garmin Express, you are downloading the update to your watch. Once that is done, you have to UNPLUG your watch

    3. Then, the updates starts on your watch

    4. Watch updated and everything works from there
