Can we set runs/training distance to end on target?

I really want to set my training or runs to stop immediately at a set distance - 1 mile, 5k, 10k.. etc.  Is there a way to set this? (toggle?  END ON TARGET) something like that? We have different modes for activities, but it seems like all of them just continue past what I set my target distance to.

My 235 allowed me to do it, but I don't seem to have the ability to do it on the 945 - that I can tell.  I wouldn't mind it to continue on days I don't  set a distance, but when I want to end on a specific point, it seems weird that I don't have the ability to set it to end once I reach a milestone distance.  Its annoying to have to press the button and get my distances to.. 4.02 miles or 5.01 miles.  Am I just out of luck on the 945?

  • Looks like most (if not all) recent garmin devices work this way.

  • The 945 worked like that last summer. It annoyed me as it now annoys you :-D

Im glad they changed it. Did you already try to program a workout via connect and sync it to the watch? This was the way it worked. It always put the activity to a stop when I reached the end of my workout and I had to push start button to resume it.

  • Create a workout for your desired distance. The activity will continue, but you will get lap data for your precise distance.

  • I was using an Instinct prior to buying/using the 945 and was surprised that my first Garmin Coach workout with the 945 automatically paused the watch instead of autolapping when the workout ended (the Instinct just autolaps).  It rarely works that the end of my workout coincides with the end of my overall run.  So I lost about a mile.  Not a big deal, but I'd rather not have to remember to restart the activity at the end of the workout but end when I'm finished with the overall run.  I don't see a Run activity setting to change this behavior.

  • It's easier to trim the activity than add the missing stuff. So autolap is the right thing to do, not to stop the activity.
