Tomorrow's suggested workout

I've been testing out the new daily suggested workout feature this week.  What would be very helpful and appears currently missing is a preview of *tomorrow's* workout.  I run in the morning before work and need to be able to preplan the time expected for the next day's workout so I can set my alarm clock accordingly.

  • Anyway, back to the original question...why are the global alerts overridden in these scenarios?  If I have a "drink" or "eat" alert then they won't be shown just because it's a planned workout.

  • Thanks for all the additional information on DSW you are posting on this thread. Slight smileThumbsup

  • Because structured workouts, no matter where they came from, always override generell alarms.
Its that easy: it is that way because it is that way.

A seperation for eat, drink and sleep Stuck out tongue alerts would be fine, but then the next one asks for exemptions for HR alerts, then Pace/Power alerts and then the system is broken.

  • JD - sounds like the system is setup to work pretty well to suggest a nice mix of workouts in each week as well ensure recovery.  which depending on what you typically do, could maybe not change much of what you do... or ... could help push you in the right direction in training, train some weakness, or encourage more 'polarization' of your hard/easy mix.

I like that it is a pretty good passive training plan, if you have had a couple mellow runs in a row... likely it will say "get after it today with this strong workout" essentially.  Easily ignorable... but if feeling up to it... easy to click YES, and Follow it that day.  If you go HARD... then the next day, it will likely give you a good little reminder to do a easy/base type run (w/suggested pace or HR) pretty cool.

Helps prevent the average joe from going out doing an not hard enough tempo pace every day... and stagnating while still having a decent injury risk.   then wondering why after years of running that their race results are the same :-/    lol

  • Although I found Garmin-Brooks description as useful, if not more, than the information that can be found here - https://www.garmin.com/en-US/blog/fitness/daily-workout-suggestions-for-runners/ - there has come some information about the DSW now.

  • Thats exactly what I wanted to ask today. Because normaly I run a 5k in the morning and this morning it suggested an 57min run. Since I am in home office, this was not a big deal, but when I have to go to office, then I should know a day before, so I can plan my waking time.

  • I use Sportracks for my workout planning

Hey I also use Sporttracks :-)

  • Thanks for updating the thread.

  • I have tried the daily suggested workouts for several weeks now (I was on the beta, Marq Athlete). Initially my fitness was increasing, but last week I saw the opposite (vo2max Arrow down️, training unproductive). Lot of threshold trainings, does not seem balanced. It’s a good start, but we’re not there yet.

Just joined the forums, first post. Been sort of using 'suggested workout' and I understand jefferydunning need. I wouldn't have time for most of the suggested workouts even if I could move things around in my schedule. Yes I understand I could 'make' time if I wanted to but I have other priorities. Like to run in the morning, like to walk the dog before my run...etc. I don't have the time for a 70 minute run during the week. So I've been taking the 'suggestion' and quickly basing a workout on it. Just shorter. It's not a perfect solution but it works for me.
