Beta after the beta

Is it normal that a beta comes out after the beta? I have the latest official version 5.0
  • It might be in a situation that some issues are found in the first beta, they are being fixed and another beta test version is being released for the beta testers.

This is a common procedure in every software life cycle.

BTW, we don't even know how many alpha versions are released in between...

  • I had an issue with the beta which after working with Support and the beta team is resolved in the new beta.

I'm certainly happy they do it like this as beta testers are supposed to be a lot more understanding than mainline users.

  • Well, yeah... There are tons of builds in sw development. There have likely been builds in between and builds will follow before the final release. Some are released as public beta when deemed fit or necessary (and I personally am thankful for that)

  • Depends how you define "normal".

For Garmin 945 Forerunner Beta's usually there is just the beta and then release. Can't remember has there been more than one beta before the release before with 945.

    For software development, yes.

  • Well - think about the Fenix crowd - they have several betas between releases so it could be that the 945 team started using a similar release cycle. From what noticed this is the first back to back public beta so i'd say it's a reason to celebrate ;-) - instead of being worried.

  • Why not. Complaning is a thing.

But better a good (tested) release rahter than a *** one. Agree ?
