QuickFit Quarter-turn Bike Mount - Compatibility for 945?

Looking at new product QuickFit® Quarter-turn Bike Mount for Fenix6, is this compatible with the Forerunner 945?
Product listing says it is not compatible, but https://support.garmin.com/en-NZ/?faq=sbN5j7JjYC0Dbb6KDWLFw5#compatibledevicelist says that it is compatible?

I assume the difference that would cause it not to be compatible is the length between the mount points.

  • The 22mm version should work, but I haven't tired it myself.

  • Not sure whether this would work, because the Fenix models are a bit thicker than the 945. Looking at the pictures of the bike mount, it seems to click the watch in place, rather than gripping the the watch like normal QuickFit wrist straps do. It might be worth a try, though.

  • I can't speak for this new version - but it appears to come with three sizes for the frame - but I use the older "Quick Release Kit" meant for Triathlons. I discard the "quickfit" harness that allows it to be moved between wrist and bike quickly, and instead I just use the quarter turn part and remove the quickfit straps manually before riding.

lso, can recommend cheap stem kits to go with it, like this - I am sure the same is available from most generic marketpaces: www.amazon.co.uk/.../B07G5CXGRB

  • So what's the advantage of that over one of those $7 handlebar adapters that you just wrap your watch around?  I would think it's about a wash with regard to "quick release" considering what's involved in taking it on/off.

  • Hello !

On my road bike (Trek brand), I used a mount for Garmin Edge and the mount of Forerunner 945 (available in Tri Pack). Look at the picture, may be a solution for you ?

  • I have the FR935/945 mount as shown in the post by DreammerX and, sadly, the fenix 6 does not fit. It's close but the back of the watch is bulkier than the cutout size in the FR935 device and the plastic is super hard for a tight, secure fit. This pisses moe off of course as I just bought the fenix but now I'll have to buy the $50AUD fenix bike mount kit just for the single piece to attach the 22mm fenix 6 - the rest of the kit is pretty much the same as the FR935 I already have and to be honest, if you have a garmin quarter turn attachment, you only need the one bit and not the shonky elastic-band attached holder part. $50 !!!????

You could purchase the fenix kit and I'll swap you the FR935 kit if you like? The FR935 kit also has a wrist mount so that you can swap easily from bike to run stages - although just like pgabavy posted below, I don't really use the wrist bit but overall it really is a great gadget.

  • did you ever figure out if the 945 fits in the Fenix6 bike mount? Just curious because I like the way the fenix mount looks better than the 935/945 quick release kit.

    Thanks!

  • It will not. The 945 is much thinner than the F6.

  • It completely DOES fit BECAUSE the 945 is thinner. The Fenix will not fit on the older 935/945 QR system because it is thicker.

However, the Fenix mount kit is massive rip off - they want $50AUD for a plastic clip!!! I mean, they provide 3 different sizes in the same pack - FFS, maybe that's for people who have 3 different sized Garmins to mount.

I got a good discount and bought the Fenix mount kit and only used the 22mm plastic mount as I have a Garmin handlebar mount and don't have a Fenix 6S and Fenix 6X to mount next to each other. So, I've got 90% of the kit left unused. If anyone has a 6S or 6X they can have what's left of the kit for half price (pm me).

And what an unnecessary waste of stuff - environmentally friendly I think not.

Garmin make these great tech products but the eco-system around them is pathetically sadly lacking.

  • It completely DOES fit BECAUSE the 945 is thinner.

While it will fit in the mount, it is not a secure fit. It's loose. It rattles.

So for me that means it does not fit.
