How does Garmin Golf track various stats?

I am curious to know how Garmin golf measures / knows that I have played out of a bunker? Eg here: https://gyazo.com/818e65b3720907001a59442b24b1f42f

Obviously shots are measure by my 945 detecting that i'm swinging the club? Here: https://gyazo.com/c30f3db92c0b5f2fbe43cf9560251efe

Any insight on how these very impressive insights are gained from me simply wearing my 945 around the course and using the Golf activity would satisfy my curiosity.

I can't answer your question, but I'm curious as well.

I always thought that stats as precise as yours were only possible when using a Garmin Approach device... but I guess, a FR945 may (luckily) be enough.
