Why is distance different on Strava? My Garmin shows 2200 yards. Strava shows 1200 yards for same activity?

I swam today and recorded 2202 yards in open water swim. Once I uploaded to Stava it changed from 2202 yards to 1200 yards. Anyone know why the big difference in distance? I would have swam longer had I know it was less than one mile - THANK you in advance for all your support!

Can it be that you didn't acquire GPS into a while into your activity? Then the accelerometer on the watch would have captured the first part, and switched to GPS tracking once that became available. While in Strava the distance may have been calculated only using the GPS part of the workout.

Just a guess, since I don't see your workout. Do you have a map part of your whole track?
