I swam 2077 yards today, but the map did not log my route. I've got the yards listed, but missing the map? Do I need to do something different to my watch to get the map? I don't have any issues when running or biking. Any help is welcome thnk you

Look I have very very little experience with FR945, with sport watches in general and alos with OW swimming. So take my answer with a grain of salt. I do own a FR945 and I started to do ow swimming sessions…
You got no GPS signal, distance was measured from accelerometers, Garmin guesses distance from stroke rate.
First make sure that GPS is on, have a strong GPS signal, have 1-2 minutes of GPS soak, have…
Since we are here, let me avoid opening another thread and ask you: is it normal that I take like 5 minutes to get the GPS signal? When I (for example) bike, it takes around 10 seconds I would say...
But I know that for some people Garmin suggests to test on the other arm,
I believe that suggestion has come from some users but of course I could be wrong. I just don’t see Garmin producing a watch that only works one wrist or the other either in or out of the water.
did you ever experience the same problem in ow swim mode?
Haven't been able to get that happening on OWS after the fixes.
I think that the problem is that in activity change the GPS location is lost and new activity starts acquiring it and that causes problems.
"I think that the problem is that in activity change the GPS location is lost and new activity starts acquiring it and that causes problems."
The problem with swimrun is definitely not this. Today I was swimming a bit with not OW swimming activity, and my track looked like yours in swimrun.
To sum up, swimrun measures ONLY in RUN mode, but every second lap/activity change is counted as swim (but measured as run!). I do not know, if swimrun activity is made by Garmin or 3rd party, but report this to the creator.
I think the issue with the swim element of swimrun is that the swim algorithm does not change from that used for running - hence the very jagged swim track that is very different from the swim track recorded when using OWS activity. Too cold here for me to get in the sea at the moment but when I swam with two watches, one set to OWS and the other to swimrun it was easy to see the difference.
With swimrun I did find that if I had the activity set to 'Autochange' I had problems with the switch between swimming and running but never when I made the switch between the two manually.
From what you are saying there have not been any improvements in this behaviour since I stopped swimming in June so it is important that you report this to Garmin. I would suggest you use the email the team supply with the beta downloads ([email protected]) as well as the normal Garmin Support channels.

Why? I've also forget the change to swim and the track looked like the swimrun's swim looks like, but it didn't lost it at the start :) https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/5207997688/7
It's made by Garmin and worked with 935.

Well the track looks like in swimrun's OWS mode and run mode the same when swimming, but would be interesting if one would just use run for the whole swimrun, what would the track look then, is there missing parts or not. As if there would not be missing parts, then it's not the "mode", but the sport change. I'll be probably doing at least one swimrun still, maybe I could try that and see what happens :)

Mentioned in last beta comments and did contact my local Garmin support on 19th, we'll see do I hear anything, I'm not really expecting much.
In here it's getting too cold, so probably any possible fixes it's next June and we probably have 955 then already :D
Oh, almost forgot. Did a swimrun only with run mode.

Couple of swims is missing, but this probably was bad test, as I was with GoPro and in those swims I might have kept the watch under water too long it to lost the GPS lock as I was using GoPro to record our nightly Swimrun. So can't really say was it loosing the swims because the "GPS mode", or because of my action, but still dunno, not nice :)
Still haven't heard back anything for my local Garmin support, so my understanding that reporting these things to them is pointless still seems to hold true.
