I swam 2077 yards today, but the map did not log my route. I've got the yards listed, but missing the map? Do I need to do something different to my watch to get the map? I don't have any issues when running or biking. Any help is welcome thnk you

Look I have very very little experience with FR945, with sport watches in general and alos with OW swimming. So take my answer with a grain of salt. I do own a FR945 and I started to do ow swimming sessions…
You got no GPS signal, distance was measured from accelerometers, Garmin guesses distance from stroke rate.
First make sure that GPS is on, have a strong GPS signal, have 1-2 minutes of GPS soak, have…
Since we are here, let me avoid opening another thread and ask you: is it normal that I take like 5 minutes to get the GPS signal? When I (for example) bike, it takes around 10 seconds I would say...

This would be great, but it does not, at least in Swim in Swimrun. So another thing that is somehow missing in swimrun mode.
Ref. There are strokes, there is no distance. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/5394645719/2
Ok - so at least in theory your swimming is 100% symmetric, right?
Another important thing I forgot: do you tell your FR what wrist it is on? Or you keep that setting fixed to "LEFT" even if you re wearing it on the rigth? I dont know if that setting is used in ow swim, but good to check..
In theory it is symmetric, I wouldn't say that in 100%, but close (I definitely do not hold my left arm underwater for significantly more time). Regarding the arm settings, unfortunately on Swim2 it is not possible to change it, and when I tested with FR945, I was not aware of this difference (in FR910XT I am not aware of such settings, but it can measure equally on both arms). However it is set fixed to "left" - and works well on the right. I asked from the support recently if used arm settings do matter in OW mode, but so far I have no answer.
To be honest, it is really difficult to evaluate if you do not see the swimmer. But I know that for some people Garmin suggests to test on the other arm, as it might work better on one arm than the other. For me it is definitely true.
