Course Point Alerts

Like the subject. Is it possible to get tone/vibration alerts as you approach Course Points (and if you have Turn By Turn Notifications OFF).

My specific use case is when I plot a trail run, there's just far too many alerts for the TBT notifications and I end up staring at the map every 30seconds.

Usually I can just drop 4 or 5 Course Points onto a route which if I was alerted to, would remind me to look at the map at that time for a reminder or clarification that I needed to change direction or whatever, and that would get me through a run.

The trouble is, unless I'm missing something, the Course Points just appear as text on the map, and thats it?

Is this possible??

  • *update* - I DO get Course Point alerts if TBD direction is disabled (they must just have been lost in amongst the constant buzzing and beeping of directions previously!).

However only the icon pops up, not the TITLE text, which is a shame. However it does mean I can now just add a few course points ahead of tricky junctions to alert me to switch to the map screen.

Two feature requests from me >

    1) Display the Course Point Title Text in the alert (and add more icons - just being able to have a custom LEFT or RIGHT arrow would be useful).

    2) Introduce a new setting "Auto Map" similar to "Auto Scroll" - which when enabled, when a Course Point (or TBT Alert) appears, flips to the map screen for a few seconds.

  • You will get just course point alerts instead of TBT if you export the route and then send it manually to the watch via usb. Look for other threads, you'll find it.

It's a pity there's no such an option in GC

  • The curious thing is I've ONLY transferred routes with GC (not USB) and I *do* get Course Point alerts - which I notice if I disable the TBT alerts.
