Fenix 6 Pro (47mm), no maps, wifi, music - vs - FR 945?

I'm a runner, marathons, moving up to ultras; I only run, nothing else. Roughly same price, Fenix 6 Pro (47mm), no maps, wifi, music, and FR 945. Which one should I get and why? The weight advantage of the FR 645, I've tried them both on and it's negligible, to my mind, not a deciding factor. TIA.

  • If your going to be doing ultramarathons, you want a watch with maps. Trust me. Its saved me on more than one occasion of a poorly marked course. Depending on the distances you're doing, the battery in both will be fine until you start surpassing about 34 hours. I've used numerous fenix watches and currently the 945. The 945 has taken me through multiple 100 milers and 30hr fixed time events with plenty of battery to spare. In all these cases I was only connected to a chest strap HRM tri. I'm not aware of the 945 having the power saver mode, however. If you could swing a fenix with maps, etc then I would,  specifically for the ruggedness. If not, get the 945.
