Dear Garmin are you going to fix the navigation feature?

As I stated in a question...

Tell us - Are you working on it?
Do you even know about it?

About 10 days passed since the faulty update now and navigation on our watches (one of its most distinctive features) still doesn't work... Disappointed
There is no response from you... not a single comment...

Should we accept it the way it is now?!
No fix?! No answer?! No reaction?!

Or perhaps we should collect money for next generation of forerunner or fenix?!
Is it the policy you are applying now?

Give us some information!

  • You mean gmapprom.img? (Not iso?)

So that's basically removing half of europe (which I do as well as I don't need half of it atm) but weird that different things seem to work for different ppl... for me removing gmapdem.img is the fix.

  • Ups... Perhaps it is .img

I can't check now Slight frown

  • That is not a solution, that's a workaround. You removed half of europe.

And it's more like persistent with the reinstalling, it might take FEW or A LOT of tries, but it has been fixing the problem. I've not seen any proof that extra steps before reinstalling does anything more, those just might work for some, but as only reinstalling has proven to work also I've come to think that it's more just in that reinstall it worked.

  • Perhaps you are right but it works form me for now.

How do you know it is half of Europe?
Do you know which countries are included in this half?

What about those img files? Which countries are they?

    gmapbmap
    gmapdem
    gmapprom

Perhaps they are Africa or Pacific Ocean?

  • Re-installing MIGHT work in the end, but I'm not going to try endlessly where with each try I'm busy for at least  an hour (downloading, installing, processing, rebooting).

I now tried 4 that times, screw this. I'll stick with the workaround for now as that at least works consistently.

Hell, at one point I did get a fast boot after the reinstall process, next boot was taking 40 minutes again. Removing the gmapdem.img in my case at least works every time...

  • But then there is a problem with altitude calibration Disappointed

  • Because depending on the location you only get TopoActive <yourregion>. Installing Basecamp it can tell you which map is which. For me the gmapprom.img is TopoActive Europe 2020.10 North East and d6185080b.img is TopiActive Europe 2020.10 South West.

And gmapsup1.img is CourseView Medium SE Americas, gmapsup2.img is same for Europe, Middle East & Africa, and gmapsup2.img is same for Pacific.

  • Countries:

    TopoActive Europe 2018.20 North East
Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey and Ukraine

    TopoActive Europe 2018.20 South West
Andorra, Belgium, France, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Vatican City, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo , Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia

Maps/files (img = map itself, gma = garmin map activation file)

    D6185080B TopoActive Europe South West
    gmapprom TopoActive Europe North East

    gmapdem Digital Elevation Model data

    gmapbmap Garmin Autoroute Basemap
gmapsup1 Garmin CourseView Medium SE Americas
gmapsup2 Garmin CourseView Medium SE Europe, Middle East & Africa
gmapsup3 Garmin CourseView Medium SE Pacific

    gmaptz TimeZone map

  • D6185080B TopoActive Europe South West
    gmapprom TopoActive Europe North East

Hm... so there is something wrong with it....
I deleted gmapprom (TopoActive Europe North East) so I shouldn't have the map of Poland (that's the country where I live) but the map works correctly Slight smile
