Did you happen to update to the latest topo maps?
I noticed way bigger battery usage with those (and lag, unresponsiveness). At first when actually using them (trying to plan a route, took too long, cancelled…
I tried to retain with the maps. Did a new install of the maps, charged it full, soft reboot. But the battery only lasts ONE day. This is insane. Is this the only way, moving the maps?? And, please where…
Here's my experience in the last two days. Nothing changed in my usage, no new CIQ apps, no new maps installed. I have been on 4.40 since it came out:
Btw, for me it was the gmapdem.img map which was causing the issues... I now have the Dxxxxx map (which is the part of europe I live in) and an OSM map without issues. As soon as I put the gmapdem on there it goes down the drain again...
What file?
But from another topic where i posted this:
Maps/files (img = map itself, gma = garmin map activation file)
D6185080B TopoActive Europe South West
gmapprom TopoActive Europe North East
gmapdem Digital Elevation Model data
gmapbmap Garmin Autoroute Basemap
gmapsup1 Garmin CourseView Medium SE Americas
gmapsup2 Garmin CourseView Medium SE Europe, Middle East & Africa
gmapsup3 Garmin CourseView Medium SE Pacific
gmaptz TimeZone map
I can't understand what's happening with my watch. Battery consumption is going crazy. From 0,4 a few months ago it started to go up to 0,7 next time I see is 1,x now it's on 3%.
I've already done soft and hard resets, eliminated all ciq watch face and widgets. And delete the maps. Nothing changes ... I'm in the point of open a ticket with Garmin
Did you have to disable the maps in each activity, or is it possible to do it globally ?
Not sure if disabling in an activity would help or if there is some background stuff going on... give it a try Id say.
I moved one file which seemed to cause all the issues for me, so for me a global fix. (Or workaround actually, removing part of the data is not a real fix)
I'm so Fed up about this battery thing. Before the last update I was in a 9 day battery Life, now again, less than 5. I'm so disappointed about this Watch. I spent a lot of Money and gave confidence to Garmin, buy there were a lot of cheaper alternatives.
Same here. The map trick that Flintstone suggested was not a permanent fix for me. Hoping Garmin would fix this. Still much better than AW4 though. That needed charging every day.
