Modified workout

I'm slowly making my workouts harder. But I want to make sure that my procedure works.  Please let me know if this will work.

I create and schedule a workout and download it to my watch. Then after I run the workout, I modify the workout on Garmin Connect. I then schedule the modified workout (with the same name) and download it to my watch.

The question is, will the modified workout be on my watch, or just the original workout? Do I need to (somehow) delete the unmodified workout from my watch prior to downloading the modified version?
