Garmin Coach and PacePro for final race of Garmin Coach training plan

Hello everyone,

I'm coming closer to my HM race following a 17 weeks Garmin coach training plan. Here is my question: How do I start the Garmin Coach planned HM race activity using the PacePro feature in parallel? For me it looks like I can just use one or the other option but not in a combined fashion. I would love to close the training plan using the planned HM activity but having the PacePro feature activated as well.

Thanks for any help/guidance!

  • hello - good luck with your hm :-)  from my experience, i would use the pacers group, if you don't want to run some crazy times :D. having said that, the pacers group is always cheerful, they'll help you with gels and push you during the last few kilometers. but if you feel the need to use the garmin, i would start the pacepro mode and load that specific course (the organizers should provide a gpx file), otherwise just log it as a run with 1k laps ;-). another advanced option is to use a datafield app with manual laps, where you would hit the lap button at the lap banner and the app will do an estimate of the finishing time. but if it's one of the first races, just enjoy it ;-)

Thanks @tsofron. It's not my first HM. Unfortunately, the race has been canceled and I need to run the HM myself from home (course to be defined). So PacePro would be great but I cannot figure out how to use PacePro when starting the planned Garmin Coach activity. Could you explain the advanced option you mentioned in a bit more detail. Thanks!

  • well - i'll leave you then the best how to regarding pace pro around here - https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/11/garmin-starts-rollout-of-pacepro-to-fr945-and-fr245-also-adds-more-data-fields-per-page.html; unfortunately i don't have the 945 back from the warranty, but from what i remember you can't use both tools - so you'll have to decide for either / or. ps: i feel you :(, all my races until december have been canceled as well...
