945 Battery Life

Has anyone noticed over the past 3 days that battery life is draining significantly more? For me I have changed nothing and ant put a finger on the reason..

Yesterday for example, I went for a run then put the watch on charge until 100% and woke up this morning and the watch battery was under 50% without any activities done. This has been the same for the past two days.

I have pulse ox turned on but I have always had it on so that wouldn't be the reason for such a drop in battery performance the past few days.

Has anyone else noticed this?

  • yes, same here. I was on 89%, no pulse ox all day, only during sleep, no BT or anything else. It drops to 41% during the day. then I  check everything, no changes made I went out for a short run. half an hour, lost only 2% with gps and OHR on. In the evening down to 29% an during the night I lost 5% .

    what is it? Mothersday bug?

  • My battery life was great for many months.  After an update a few weeks ago, the watch loses 25-40% per day with no GPS or use of any sensors.  It has really gotten bad. Not sure what to do.

  • on my watch it was a one day issue, after recharging and no changes everything is quite ok. no extra battery drain.

  • no problem at all. it runs for 4 days incl. sports every day. Excl. Ox pulse

  • Check if Wifi is off in the watch menu, you may also check if Bluetooth is off and try again.

Wifi was a battery killer for me, once disabled no draining anymore. PluseOx during sleep at least is no big deal, only minimal impact on battery. But the radio transmitters seem to be an issue.

I have the same problem, a couple if weeks ago the battery just started to drain quickly. Thought it might have been just an update but then it continued. I'm now on 2.5% an hour, very poor as one of the selling points was the battery life. I've contacted Garmin but heard nothing yet. Reduced all power and disabled wifi but with no change.Any help on this would be appreciated.

  • Indeed turning of WiFi seems to do the trick for me. It seems that the WiFi radio consumes a lot of energy, especially when the WiFi-signal is weak.

  • WIFI should only be on right after an workout. It's only for synchronising and is turned on and off automatically, so it shouldn't impact your battery life that much. (at least that's how it works on my forerunner 935)

But then again, it's software written by garmin, so except lots of bugs.

  • with a custom watch face - eg line or infocal i get 0.6/h but with the garmin embedded ones i get 0.37/h (and had since the charge a 1h run with gps/glonass + garmin run power written in the fit file). wifi, bt - everything but pulse ox is enabled. totally happy with this.
