trying to pair my garmin heart rate monitor to swift

I have a a garmin cadence and speed sensor to use with my bike and swift and everything works fine, but the heart rate from my 945 just doesn’t appear on swift, It just don’t pair ! Can you please help me with this ?

  • Try using Virtual Run to broadcast your HR over bluetooth.

  • It won't! Not until they add virtual bike as an activity profile.

There was a post from a member here but I can't recall their user name. They said it was possible to 1st pair zwift in running mode to the virtual run activity on your watch, the hr on zwift will then show as connected to the 945. Then on your watch you change activity profile to bike from within the run activity settings.

Unfortunately for me once I do this my watch will not connect to the turbo sensors.

In the end until virtual bike is added o just record zwift without hr reading. To be fair their calorie burn estimate is pretty much bang on to what Garmin says anyway. I prefer to still keep the watch recording on Garmin as it effects the intensity minutes and training status. If you upload the zwift activity to Garmin then it will not effect training effect or intensity minutes.

  • I found a workaround, click un virtual run, press start, then do a long press in the botón up, and you will find the option for change sport, press bike indoor...The activity will save as multisport, but just for 5 seconds in run...

  • The heart rate in general in Garmin is broadcast by ANT+, only in "Virtual Run" activity is broadcast by Bluetooth, but try this: I found a workaround, click un virtual run, press start, then do a long press in the botón up, and you will find the option for change sport, press bike indoor...The activity will save as multisport, but just for 5 seconds in run...

  • Not sure if you noticed but that's what I said in my post and how it doesn't work for me, zwift will have the hr reading ok but I then loose the power and speed sensors when I switch to cycle they won't reconnect.

  • Let me explain my case...I don't know if it's works for you....First I connect my Tacx to Zwift in my Mac by BT, then I connect my Garmin to the Tacx by ANT+, doing the process of VR, etc...At the end I have two different activities in Garmin, "The Zwift" with zero load and the  Garmin with the real values....

  • I'm using my iPhone for zwift and then air playing it to my tv.

virtual run on my watch and run on zwift so my hr connects. Then switch to cycle on zwift so hr is still connected. Then run settings and change sport on watch ti cycle but either my watch or phone will not pick up the trainer. As I say im not that bothered to cycle zwift without hr as it's calculations are pretty similar to Garmin with hr for calorie burn.

Thank you very much. it really helped me.

  • To add to this I send the Tacx data to Strava and the Garmin data to GC. I’m not ending up with two activities in Strava as Strava does not appear to ‘want’ the data from the watch.

I use a HRM-Dual to BT heart rate to Rouvy/Tacx and ANT+ heart rate to the watch.
