Indoor rock climbing

Hi.

Has anybody tried to get the new indoor rock climbing activity from fenix 6 to work on a 945?

  • I've tried it, it doesn't work.

  • Seems to me the Fenix Series are always getting a lot more love in terms of software etc.

Kinda sad, they should simply have the same software in different bodies :-(

  • this expectations arouse because of Forerunner 935 and F5, but Garmin chose to put the top of the Running/Multisport shelf Forerunner 945 a whole class beneath the Fenix 6.

  • Why should it even work? It simply doesn't. Either the watch has an activity type natively or not.

  • The activity is in the latest beta.
had the opportunity to test it yesterday. Im impressed.
you start the activity, select if you want to track wich grade the routes are, push start and start climbing. It detects when you start climbing, fall and stops the route when you are back at the floor.
only the „send“ data is something I don’t know what is meant.

if you are at the floor securing your partner, it will happen that it detects climbing because you always move your arm up when pulling down the rope. This only happens if you wear the watch on the non-brakehand side.

    Hi BeneGi,

Did you use your forerunner 945 for rock climbing activity?
I have downloaded the latest beta software update for forerunner 945, and updated it on my watch, but the rock climbing activity does not show up on my list of activities :(

Anybody? Does it work on forerunner 945? Been waiting a long time for rock climbing activity on this watch.

  • Yes, I used my FR945. I wouldn't write it in the FR945 forum otherwise.
If you installed the beta, you have to add the activity to the activity list via the watch menu (push start button once, scroll up with middle left button once, push start again to get the activities you can add).

  • "Send" = "Make a route"

  • it looks like you have more experience.
In my activity, no routes are completed. Do you know I how can mark them as complete?
