945 tri bundle: no quickfit straps .. really!?

I bought the 945 tri bundle to use my 945 for running, swimming and cycling. The cycle mount is pretty decent and you can clearly see all major stats while working out.

However I was shocked to find out that even though there are two straps in the box neither is a quickfit strap!

Now I have to manually unscrew my strap every other day to remove it in order to be  able to click it strapless in the bike mount :-O

I know there is also a wrist mount in the box, I can use this for triathlon races but it's so huge I obviously cannot wear it during normal daily use.

Why oh why aren't there quick release straps delivered in the box? Now the kit is nearly useless unless I buy another €50 Garmin strap. For €750 I'd expect to receive a fullyworking set here.

Thanks, stefan.

  • i cannot understand it too.
one of the dubious product decisions of garmin Face palmShrug

  • Indeed. I tried a third-party quickfit strap but it gave me a rash for some reason.

So now I'm unscrewing the regular strap 3 times a week with my too-large hands, because I think €50 for a few centimeters of plastic that should've been in the box isn't justifiable for me at this point.

  • I deducted to go buy a cheap Edge 130 and use the extended display features instead of the tri mount. Compared to my old 310xt the bike mounting of the 945 is rubbish  Sorry I know it’s not the solution to the straps but to me was a slicker setup in the end.

  • I have thought about that as well but I guess I will loose turn by turn navigation when I use my 945 through an extended display right?

I don't use that daily but once in a while for new Strava routes it comes in handy.
