FR 945 successor with Sapphire please.

Dear Garmin, can you please offer the next generation FR models with sapphire glass?? Please!

I have had a Casio ProTrek watch over 15 years, and the glass was still as the watch was bought yesterday. Last year I bought a Samsung S9+ with gorilla glass, within 2 days scratches on it. It was under the expectation that gorilla glass is supposed to be very scratch resistant, but it is not ...apparently. The third day I bought  a protector.

Again, dear Garmin, I'm sure you should understand that a 500+ Euro costing watch should not require a screen protector.

Thanks in advance.

  • This is primarily a user to user forum. You hardly ever get a Garmin answer on here unless you flag up a serious bug or other issue.

AFAIK there has never been a Forerunner with sapphire glass. I can't see that change in the near future.

  • I have had a 620, 235, 935 and 945.  All with $5 tempered glass protector on top.  2 minutes to apply.  All have been beat up and cracked a few times and the screen underneath is 100% brand new.  I'm fine with that solution....

  • For me that would be a big NO.

Sapphire is havier, more reflective and less transparent than Gorilla glass. So it makes sense that it is reserved for devices that are going to have rocks falling on them, not a running watch which should be light and with a display that is as clear as possible so I can see the data effortlessly (without ajusting the angle of my wrist) when I'm pumping hard, like during interval training.

So yeah, I'm all for "customer choice" but that choice makes very little sense in my opinion.

    • Totale agree!!  I love gorilla glass and his light! My 945 has 12 month and is ad  new!!
