  • Just an update of my experience with SW 4.40, which has been pretty positive. I use my FR 945 together with the Running Dynamics Pod, and also Polar H10 chest strap.

Since this update, GPS has been locking on faster and tracking better (I use GPS + Glonass). I think this will be the best we can get with the particular chipset used.

I liked the weather app update in the beta version, but notice its missing from production which is a shame. The layout worked better, and the inclusion of 'feels like' data point was a nice addition although it didn't update differently than the 'actual' temp in beta.

Battery performance was initially pretty bad as others reported, however I fixed this after doing some tweaks like; turning off wifi, changing watch face, changing music provider to phone control, then hard resetting before changing the settings back and charging to 100%. I have PulseOX set to all day and a high power watch face which has seconds enabled and real time HR, so my drain is above average anyway. Worth considering that things like that contribute higher drain.

I've not experienced any drop-outs as reported by other users - but these instances seem to be in conjunction with using Stryd and Wahoo. I use Polar H10 and Running Dynamics Pod and not experienced this issue. A possible removal and repair may fix the issue.

VO2 max has updated 5 times for me since 4.40 was released, so also no issue there - although it has been falling like a brick! The only potential bug I have noticed is that my Lactate Threshold has not updated in conjunction and has stopped at the last activity prior to release.

All in all, in my experience, I feel that this has been a good release. From future releases I would like to see; (1) Battery optimization (2) Performance Measurements stability and improvement (3) Nap (additional short sleep) detection (4) Garmin Pay shortcut (hold down back button).

    :)

  • Indoor Cycling wrist Heart Rate ("Bike Indoor" profile):  I'm getting way high wrist heart rate on Indoor Cycling only.  HR is showing ~170 from wrist on Garmin 945.  However, manually it is ~120.  I have no issues with wrist Heart Rate on other sports, including running.  Any advice?  Using Software Version 4.40, GPS 4.10, Sensor Hub 4.01.

  • I just tried a WiFi sync and the watch crashed and rebooted.

  • After the reboot I went into app and tried "Test Network Connection" - the watch said "Connection Failed" while the app said "Connection test succeeded" (or whatever flashed by)

  • Forget network / Re-add same network / sync over WiFi OK

  • I also have this issue. I updated the maps and the firmware at the same time and one of it really slowed down the loading of maps during an activity.

  • Since the update to 4.40 BodyBattery data is no longer recorded when I stop an acitivity and want to continue it later.

  • mine works better as in before release, before i was more empty and Trainings Load is more or less the same

EDITH: you use OHR or HRM Strap for your activities?

you stop the activity, how long, never have done this?

  • today i received new language translation files, that means a new public firmware release will come today or tomorrow?

  • They added a translation that is now complete and partly missing. And if there will be a new version, time will tell ....
