Forerunner 945 Strava Segments and Navigation Issues

Hello,

I've recently purchased a Forerunner 945 (think it's great) but I cannot seem to get Strava live segments or turn by turn alerts to work.

Strava segments show up on strava, on gamin express (mobile) where I've changed it to look at strava segments rather than garmin and switched the setting on on the watch. But no luck.

Turn by turn notifications are switched on, following a course created on the watch before the run and can follow on the navigation / mapping screen but no turn alerts. The turn by turn descriptions are readable in the settings menu on the watch but no alerts.

Any ideas / help would be appreciated...

    It's under run settings, scroll down to segment alerts and ensure they're on.

    Yep. 100%. On run, segment alerts are definitely on!

    Hi Bayliss,

    I found the same problem last night, I was following a preset course (created within Garmin Connect) - which went over one of my Strava starred segments - no alerts or anything for the segment approaching.

    As I thought that was odd, I stopped the activity, went back to before the start of the segment and started a normal run (no course) - the segment alert appeared. Just to prove the theory - I then did it again, but again with me following the course - no segment alert...

    Perhaps this is another one for to add to the internal list?

    Those does not work if you follow a course. Do not follow a course. It's been like this as long as I remember. It most probably isn't any issue and it's just by design.

    Why is anyone carrying about the segments? This is the first thing that I turned off... 

    Isn't that pointless and distracting from actual training?

    If the 945 behaves the same as the Edge devices, then you need to create a route using Strava route planning so that your starred segments get embedded into the route.  This technique does work on my Edge 830.  I have not tried this with my 945 yet, however.
