Volume of Run/Walk Alerts

OK, I went through all 72 pages of 20 posts and did not find one about the "volume" of the built in alerts for activities.  Not saying there aren't any, but I couldn't find them.

Since my heart attack I am limited to a run/walk method of "running", and my 920XT has been great, but I thought I would treat myself to the new 945....but it's about to be sent back or sold.

I cannot hear the alert sound, and the vibration is just as bad.  My 920XT's vibration isn't much better but it has a 3 step volume control for the alert and I can hear it.

Any suggestions on where/how to increase the volume would be appreciated.  Or maybe there is another way for these built in "alerts" to be seen/felt/heard?

If this isn't "fixable" then anyone want to buy a brand new, never been outside 945?

Thanks,

  • I'm in run / walk mode myself due to injury recovery, and it's not the volume of the alerts that bothers me so much as the lack of transition time.

I've created a run / walk workout with a warm-up (which I also miss with the run / walk alerts) - the alerts for that have a 5 second count down (so more opportunity to notice them), and fields such as lap pace, HR etc become more useful.

The other thing to try is headphones, I _think_ the alerts play through those, so may be easier to notice them

Hope it helps, and happy running.

Hi Tony, thanks for the work around.  I still have to learn how to create workouts so I can try this and see if it is adequate.  But I only have a few days left to return the unit so I will see how my time fits.

However, again, thank you for taking the time to provide your solution to what I consider a design flaw.  I really appreciate you taking the time to write and try and help, thank you.

This update has been long overdue.  TonyB's response was spot on and Monica, from Garmin Tech Support read my response and voluntarily reached out and help me learn how to do alerts!  Since then I have been running with my earbuds or just my phone and getting the alerts I need.  Thanks TonyB and many many thanks to Monica for reaching out and helping me.  I now love my 945 :-)

  • You're saying someone from Tech Support saw your post here and reached out to you to assist?
