Feature Request for Indoor Rowing on 945: ask distance like in Tapis Roulant activity

Hi,

in this very difficult moment of COVID-19 in Italy we all are blocked at home and all using all the apps and features we ignored unitl now: As I'm using Indoor Rowing App in my device it would be important to input the exact distance rowed at the end of the activity, like happen when you use a tapis roulant. Is it possibile to have this important feature please?

  • It is possible to edit the activity afterwards in Garmin Connect (mobile or in the web version) and add the distance.

With the built in rowing app, no further data besides pulls per minute and heart rate are tracked.

On our fire station, we have C2 rowers with PM4 monitors wich can not be connected to newer Garmin devices (only to really old, outdated once). I sometimes use it for a few kilometers.

So even if you add the distance, no further analysis like pulls /100m or such things are possible with the built in app.

I think it is necessary to push Garmin to enable ANT FC Protokoll in the newer device. I dug out an old Forerunner 60 wich is able to connect to the rower and it looks like this (had no pulse strap that day)

  • Hi, I know there's a chance to edit in GC after activity have been saved from device. But in this case Strava will only display 0 as original Distance throught the automatic upload. I thought it will be correct only if I edit distance BEFORE save the activity directly in the device. Does it make sense? thanks for sharing your toughts, Danilo

  • You are right. To get it good on Strava, you need to either change it before saving (like treadmill calibration) or correct it in GC, download the .fit, delete it on Strava and reupload the .fit to Strava.

What rower and wich monitor do you use?

  • Unfortunately I'm using a Concept 2 PM3 which has not the features to connect with GC... I will try to do as you suggest, however it is a very time-consuming process... :) this is the reason why I suggested it as a new feature like Tapis Roulant Calibration...

  • If it is your rower you can change the PM3 into a PM5. I believe C2s mobile App is able to synchronize to Strava an eventually even Garmin. And it can work with the Erq app in Garmin App Store.

the ability to set a distance would also be useful to indoor bike and indoor stepper.
