Any new features, updates, betas etc?

Hello,

Is there any chance that we will get some more features (eg power management) updates, options, betas etc?
I hope you know what I mean Slight smile

I don't want to compare to fenix 6 but they get updates all the time - and I am not talking about new features all the time but upgrades to exisiting ones.

Or in other words - Mr Garmin, is it all that we can expext from our forerunners 945, are you still working on it?

Regards Slight smile

Are you having problems with a certain feature, or just wondering about the possibility of new features being added?  The F6 does seem to get more updates and betas, but they also seem to suffer from more issues that the 945 does.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect any betas or updates may be on hold for a while unless they're already at the point where Garmin was going to release them very soon.  More and more businesses are having employees work from home if possible and not having them congregate at the workplace due to CORVID-19.  This is understandable and hopefully Garmin customers will keep this in mind.

  • i would suspect the gps update (from the fenix line) will make it's way to the fitness line as well; the other ones you've mentioned would be nice to have - but honestly, after almost 1 year with the 945 - i can't say i miss them that much. one thing though would be very interesting: native run power.

my conclusion - if a lighter fenix will be released i'll probaly switch, otherwise i'll stick to the 9xx line, mainly due to the weight of the device. i also appreciated we had a head start with the virtual run, a feature i'll have to use pretty soon due to the covid situation. i would prefer constant betas and updates as well but you can't have your cake and eat it too :-)

  • Agreed on the native run power - or even the possibility of using power as a native running metric. Stryd users are really missing out on bulitin features of the Garmins (like power alerts, power based plans)

  • I understand people always wanting more, but my plea to Garmin would be "Please, stop the feature bloat! Document in the manual existing features that have been introduced since launch, release bug fixes, stabilise, maybe a few tweaks here and there but I was happy with the feature list of the watch when I bought it"

  • With COVID-19 I wouldn't be surprised if that slowed down things like betas, as some people are working from home, etc..

    Be patient.

Also, the fenix group tends to do more betas than the forerunner group.  It's been that way for a long time.

  • They not only need to document existing features that have been added AFTER the launch, even not all features wich where there in the initial launch are documented.
Even worse is the documentation of the app.
