Tacx Heart Rate

Hello

I use the tacx app with the power, speed and cadence coming from the trainer. I record the activity on the Tacx app and on my 945 (Indoor Bike). Is there a way to broadcast the heart rate from the 945 to the tacx app during the activity?

If I only record the activity on tacx, is  there a way to import the activity from tacx to Garmin Connect?

Thanks!

  • Do you use a HR belt or OHR? If you use a HR belt does it transmit ANT+ or BLE or both? You can also broadcast your HR data from the 945:

    https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/forerunner945/EN-US/GUID-D8D363C2-0690-48D4-95E2-A3557E7D53C2.html

TACX app, is that on WIndows or mobile? Guess you need a ANT+ receiver on the computer or mobile to also receive HR (unless you use a BLE HR belt).

I would assume you can export the activity from the TACX app to a FIT (or TCX) file and then manually import the activity in GC.

  • Why not do it the other way? Connect the signals from your Tacx and record the data on your 945 with the heart rate data. The other option is to get a HRM-Dual which will broadcast a Bluetooth signal as well.

I use a program called PerfPro Studio for indoor cycling. It will take your Tacx trainer and control it and allow you to connect ANT+ devices such as heart rate, speed and cadence.

  • Both of the above answers are correct. If you have a BLE HR strap, you could pair this to your phone or computer within the Tacx app, but you will need an ANT+ receiver if this is a regular HR strap.

As for uploading the activity, you would have to export this from Tacx and then manually upload it to Garmin Connect, or you can pair all of your sensors to the 945 directly and record the activity there. We are working on more integration between Garmin Connect and Tacx, but these things take time. We appreciate your patience while we continue to improve both of these products.

  • Appreciate the input. I currently do it this way - sensors connected to the 945. Records in Connect then upload to Strava.

However, it would be neat to upload all the data directly from Tacx as it loads the info on the different virtual courses that I ride directly to Strava.

Since, I have no HR data in the Tacx app, it messes up my training load in Strava.

  • OHR using the tacx app on an Android device.

I have tried to broadcast the OHR to the tacx app but did not seem to work.  Will give it another shot.

  • Thanks. I found my old Polar Bluetooth strap monitor and managed to pair it to the Tacx app on my mobile Android.

So I will use the Polar strap with the Tacx app to record and upload to Strava.

I will use the 945 connected to the Tacx sensors to record and save in Connect.  I will delete this recording from Strava when Connect auto uploads to Strava.

Not ideal since I read that Zwift ( Tacx competitor) can auto upload to Connect and Strava.

Looking forward to the better integration between Tacx and Garmin.

There is an option for broadcast heart rate from which you can pickup on tacx training app and combine it with live with data from trainer. I have 935 and i assume that 945 also have this option.

  • Just tried this with forerunner 945 and was able to recognize my heart rate with the TACX software. Thanks for the tip.

  • Is there a more recent update?.  I have a tacx vortex and venu sq.   I have not been able to get my tacx training app to recognize my venu sq although the tacx training is loading onto Garmin Connect.  Just without HR
