Is it possible to install a watch face for an 935 on a 945?

Hi there,

I loved the ‚Simple Info Analogue‘ watch face on my 935. But now for my new 945 is it not available in the IQ store. I suspect it should just work as the two devices are so similar (of course I may be wrong). Is it possible to install this watch face without Garmin Express or Mobile, e.g. with the backup procedure?

    Check with the developer of the watch face.

    I did, not sure he is still around, the last update was June 2019 or so...

    945 and 935 have the same screen (size and resolution) so it should be ok.

    Perhaps a simple copy/paste of the watch face could be the trick.

    Plug your 935 on your computer copy the watch face file (extension should be .prg) in garmin/apps.

    Plug your 945 on your computer and paste the file in the apps folder.

    I am not 100% sure it will work and you should do it at your own risk (but I guess it should not damage your watch).

    If it uses any of the base fonts on the device that could be an issue.  Also, you likely wont be able to use app settings to configure it.

    In Swedish a new word has appeared since a few years back - literally translated it's "guy guessing" meaning that we say things without having anything to back it up. Smiley

    Saying that just because 945 and 935 look the same it should be OK, I would say falls under this category. Although it could be like that, why base such a supposition on just looks? There could potentially be several changes done in the software that would invalidate that. We have no idea, only Garmin would know.

    I know you entered your caveat at the end, but it's lovely to see how the practice - if not wording - from our "guy guessing" is spreading Wink

    Ok guys ;-)

    I copied the file into the directory, an additional screen face showed up - but scrambled. I also copied the file in the settings directory, same result.

    So no luck, but was worth the try...

    In the meantime I use Time flies, not as nice but close...
