Body Battery overnight when watch is not worn

My "body battery" number in GCM always has a value starting from the point I put my 945 on my wrist after waking up (I do not wear it while sleeping).  Where does it derive this starting value from?  It's not simply picking up where it left off the night before as the values are always different.

For example, last night the value was at 96 (I assume percent?) when I went to sleep, yet when I awoke from a very restful full night of sleep this morning, the value had dropped to 73.

Coincidentally I do wear a Vivosmart 3 when I sleep (it's my daily tracker) and just using the above example from last night the stress readings it recorded were very low all night so at least from that perspective I seemed to have a restful night of sleep as well.

So I'm confused how the Body Battery is getting my starting numbers from the 945 each morning.

  • I suppose making that change wouldn't hurt but it's already recording body battery data even when it's not the preferred tracker.

  • your FR945 is switched off?

when i lay my watch only on a table, then the watch measures heart rate from the table, but thats normal!

use your forerunner as 24/t tracker and your Body Battery is correct

  • My 945 measures nothing when it's placed on the counter.  That's odd yours still measures HR.  Definitely wouldn't say that's normal.

If I take off my watch and set it on the counter, it will flash looking for a HR, but it stops soon afterward.  If it continues to do so, this is definitely not normal.

  • So I experimented with this last night.

Took the Vivosmart 3 off and left it on the charger (doing so never records anything btw)

Wore the 945 through a night's sleep.  It did NOT record sleep though.

Body battery reached 100% around 3am and stayed that way until waking.

The reason I point out that it did not record sleep as that is different behavior than previous.  I've had my Vivosmart die on me before and I switched over to the 945 and it picked up where the Vivo left off with stress, steps, sleep recording etc.  Apparently something has been changed as it no longer "defaults" back to the 945 when the Vivo is unavailable, at least not for sleep recording.
