FR945 crashes and restarts during a run with map navigation

I have a very annoying issue with my Garmin Forerunner 945. Since 4.10 I guess, not 100% sure if it is since 4.10 but it is since 2020.

When I download a route (via strava) and load it to my garmin (via garmin connect) everything is working fine. But when I start the running session with the navigation enabled (map view is active on my watch) after 100meter my watch is rebooting, After the reboot (first the blue garmin logo) the workout continues and everything is working fine, till the end of the workout.

During the first 100 meter there is also a timecounter in my map screen (which i didnt enable) after the reboot the time counter doesn't show up

Does anyone experience the same problem?

  • Just did a run with a new 945 today with following a route + my girlfriend next to me on her bike with her 945.

Working pretty fine without issues or reboot, both 945 on 4.10

  • I do experience the problem of a time counter (or even two) showing up occasionally in the middle of my map screen while navigating. I think it's a bug, because there is no such setting.

There is a setting to enable a data field on the map screen, but this will pop up at the bottom and displays distance. On my 945 also this data field seems to appear and disappear with no reason. Doesn't matter if it's enabled or disabled.

  • Yeah it is so weird right? But you dont experience crashing FR ?

  • No mine doesn't crash.. I also use the Strava Routes app on my 945 to download routes
