Stryd keeps disconnecting from 945

Good morning.

I bought Stryd footpod recently. Used it for 3 runs without any issues. Today, after automatic GPS update, Stryd keeps disconnecting all the time. I mean i go to sensors > see that FP is disconnected > search for it > see that it's connected (after like 4/5 tries) and then in 30 seconds it's disconnected again.

Have anyone experienced similar issue with Stryd? Is it today's update or unrelated? I'm very confused because i thought that Stryd is supposed to be the most reliable footpod on earth. So is the problem with my Garmin 945?

How do i fix it?

  • I have never had issues like this with Stryd/945.

  • The Stryd/945 combination works fine for me. Had some problems about two years ago with stryd disconnecting with my 920XT. Problem with other sensors disconnecting? If that's not the case check with Stryd. Perhaps you need a firmware update on the Stryd. Is your Stryd connected as power pod or foot pod (or both)? See if making a change helps. I assume it is connected as ANT+ and not BLE. Could also be something to check (and test to change to see if it helps).

  • i don't hink it's a prob of GPS update, anyway my yesterday run was with GPS 2.70, today i can try with GPS 2.80!

How you configured your Stryd, there are mor possible ways?

i only connect as Foodpod with ANT+, i disabled all other things like BLT and so on
    how you configured it?

i disabled the option of pace and distance source in Stryd because if i enable it, iget no vo2max and race prediction calculation, even tough the pace of Stryd is much better then the Garmin pace.

You use the new "Stryd Zones" connect IQ datafield, i seen there was an update yesterday too, sometimes it happens that i have to reapply the Stryd field in the running app of Garmin!

  • Why don't you get VO2Max when Stryd receiving pace/distance from Stryd? I had VO2 when running outside with garmin footpod... haven't tried outside with Stryd yet because of weather. Is it because Stryd's measurement of power replaces VO2?

  • i think Garmin use only their own GPS and pace information to calculate vo2max and race prediction, even if the pace of Stryd is more accurate (it's really fantastic).

it could be a bug, but Garmin i think have no interest to fix it, like the same with native Power support in their running App with structured workouts

  • I get VO2max calculations and performance predictor etc even when using Stryd. I use it as footpod (ANT+) with distance and pace from Stryd. The VO2max calc is still using GPS data. I use GPS (I get the track recorded) and use mapping so no problem using Stryd and GPS on the same time.

I do not get a VO2 max calc on treadmill or in trail running mode but that is as designed.

Do you get a "GPS track" when using Stryd? Then the GPS is recording and you should get VO2max and race predictor.

  • yes, i get GPS when enabled pace and distance always on by Stryd,
i give it a try again, good to know, that it works for you!

  • the bad thing, yesterday with GPS 2.80 my Stryd disconnected and first i tought, i have the same prob, but then i remind, i tried to test how long my battery of the Stryd can hold up when it is near empty and of course, i started my easy peasy run with some strides at the end with ~10% battery on Stryd.

So my Stryd was out  of battery at 17:14 during my run:

the good thing, before i started the run with enabled Auto pace and distance on my Stryd and of course, the pace looks different after the cut from Stryd to Garmin pace, but as good as with Stryd after 17:14 or?

The vo2max and race predictor calculation worked too!

P.S.: the last battery load on Stryd i have done more then 4 weeks ago, so the battery himself is good, but when it comes near 10% then it looks like, you can't use them very long

  • same problem here !!!! My battery is nearly full (80%) . Sometime it works sometime not. Exactly like you described on top. It even showed data when I deleted the stryd sensor form the garmin device. How strange is that. Might it be that garmin came up with a new software running in the background which interfears with the stryd data???
