Watch face for my 945 downloaded from Connect IQ installs upon sync but disappears within an hour - started two days ago

A couple of weeks ago I downloaded a watch face from Connect IQ.  Everything seemed to work okay until yesterday when I noticed my watch face had gone back to the original 945 watch face.  I synced the watch and the downloaded watch face was back - yeah!  An hour later the original watch face was being displayed. When I hold down the up button and click Start on the Watch Face option as I go through the options where the downloaded watch face should be is IQ! for each face I’ve downloaded.

How do I fix this?

  • You probably can't fix it as the watch face has crashed. You need to contact the developer of that particular watch face (contact  link on the app store) to work on a solution. Or just ditch it and find another watch face.

CloggyAbroad is correct that you will need to contact that developer directly to see if they are able to resolve this.

  • Thank you both for you inputs.

    A little more information:

I had a couple IQ downloaded watch faces that when my 945 went back to the original watch face, both downloaded watch faces displayed IQ! - I’m assuming different developers, but could be wrong.

When I couldn’t get the watch face I wanted to display for more than an hour (I only checked the watch every hour or so so the watch face could have change in a much shorter timeframe), I chose a different Garmin supplied watch face, and upon my next checking, the original watch face (with stacked hours/minutes) was being displayed.

Then, about 4 PM west coast time, I glanced at my watch and the downloaded watch face that I wanted was now displayed, and has been since that time.

That was a pretty frustrating experience as I wasted about six hours syncing and re-syncing deleting and redownloading watch faces, until I gave up, then a few hours later everything was working again.  Oh well, fingers crossed.

  • Make sure you are running the latest firmware.  There's an issue where apps may be installed when the fw doesn't meet the minimum FW required for apps.

If you are running the latest FW, then use "contact developer" in the store, and you could be asked for the garmin\apps\logs\ciq_log file from the watch as that has details on the crash.
