Garmin 945 Forerunner button issues

Hi all,

I have just purchased a Garmin 945 Forerunner bundle - such an awesome product.  I have just noticed that after a months use the bottom left button has become soft and doesnt click now like the others although the top left can be soft at times.  I see after googling this there is a known concern with the buttons on these devices.

Question is has this issue now been resolved with the latest product - I have noticed my watch has version A on the box and see by some posts Garmin are up to version D?

The device still works fine but after paying a substantial amount of money you would think these buttons wouldn't have an issue.

Thoughts??

Cheers

I returned my 945 due to this exact issue the buttons on the right side were squishy and clicky.  I was worried there would be issues in the future outside warranty and was not prepared to risk it, I have read many other 945 users with the same issue.

An understandable concern, but as I contend, it doesn't mean it's a defect. My 935 has had mushy buttons for about two years now and the buttons haven't failed to perform their intended function.  If or when they fail their intended function, that's when I can say it's defective.  I'm a DirecTV satellite subscriber.  I have 4 identical remote controls programmed for the 4 different satellite boxes in my home.  Each remote has it's own level of feedback when the buttons are pressed from day 1.  They all work as intended and I don't consider any defective just because it feels different from the others.

That’s very true but it is a £500 device and one I wasn’t willing to take the risk on, I did speak to Garnin and they said a new batch was coming out with better buttons.

All other Garmin watches don’t have this issue, It was almost like a double press and very soft.  Makes no sense that they would make it like that on purpose.

  • All other Garmin watches don’t have this issue,

Really? Search the other forums. You’ll find similar subjective comments. Even in the Marq forum. THE most expensive watch Garmin produce.

An I’ll bet the buyer sent it back for a refund or exchange, it may be a personal preference but I wouldn’t be keeping a watch with glitchy buttons

Me neither. As I've said, if they work as intended, you press the button and it does what it is supposed to do, how they feel is subjective. If they don't work that's objective and needs fixing.

  • did speak to Garnin and they said a new batch was coming out with better buttons.

    Did they say exactly that?

  • Same case here, this replace is working great

  • You have to be kidding right? this bad response in random buttons/people after days or few months is normal for you?? yeah, of course, totally normal, in fact is what one is expected... :/

  • is normal for you?? yeah, of course, totally normal,

Read again. I said a lot of people were comparing buttons to previous Garmin watches and other watches. What you claim is 'normal' is subjective. I said different. Two different words. Two different meanings.
